Dconx 0.22b problem

Hello all!

Im new and i couldnt find any support for dconx section so ill post it here.

I recently downloaded dconx0.22b full download but i have reason to suspect somthing when wrong. I downloaded the file from one of the provided mirrors (http://download578.filefront.com/jej...xfull_0.22b.ex)
BUT i had download speed of 30kb/s[ so i left it to download over night. I woke up to find it had finished BUT the file size was only 1.15gb NOT 1.2 SO i am missing 50mb of data? Well i used the .exe and installed (worked.. partially)

i then downloaded the shortcut maker thing that gives me a desktop shortcut because i could not find one in programs folder..

Ok--

then i startup the shortcut, bf2 launching window opens then black.... Crash to desktop




So i change it to run windowed//

Same thing ALTHOUGH (please click images to see finner print)



So i AM missing files...

But i REALLY don't want to have to download another 1.2 gb ! my parents would kill me! unless it was on Game Arena (get un-metered from there (and 800kb/s speeds!)

SO (alternitives)

Somone posts the texture from their c:/Programfiles/EAGAMES/Bf2/mods/dconx

and winzips it so i can add it (host available on file hosting website free of charge)

OR somone posts it on Game Arena (noticed Dcon CTF vers 0.16b and 0.22 are on there) so us bigpond users can download.

So pplllleeeeaasee can somone help me?

Windows reports the file size of my dconxfull_0.22b.exe installer as 1.15 GB (1.235.996.672 bytes).

Can you rule out any issues with vanilla BF2?

um rule out any problems with bf2? Well im currently on version 1.41? the one before 1.5 patch as i dont think it has been released or is capable(cape-a-ble) of running with 0.86 PR

Is it required? i havent checked...

1.41 is the latest BF2 patch until the final version of 1.5 is released. I don't know if the DCONX minimod has been tested with 1.5. DCON 0.16b probably hasn't, at least I haven't heard about it. In short: 1.41 is required, 1.5 untested AFAIK.

Have you tried reinstalling BF2? I realise you don't like large downloads, but I ended up reinstalling and repatching BF2 as well as DCON and DCONX before I got everything working. Took me a whole week. I wouldn't be too surprised if a mod exposed issues with a BF2 install that did not appear in vanilla BF2. Then again, I have no idea what goes on under the bonnet* of BF2 or its mods...

Thanks Jens, umm i dont think it is BF2, well i hope its not because i lost my BF2 cd awhile ago, Umm i found where the missing texture file should be its C:/ProgramFIles/EAGAMES/BF2/mods/dconx/menu_server.zip/atlas - theres some mematlas files but none that a similar to the one im missing, it may be Vanilla but what does vanilla have to do with the menu_server.zip file, isnt it third party?

Completely Delete DCON and DCONX from your mods folder and reinstall with the installer you already have, there is apparently a corrupted file!

BTW

DCON and DCONX i just tested today with BF2 1.5 Final Patch Seems to work just peachy.

Vista works best on BF2 in Compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2.

Also instead of the icon, start Vanilla BF2, go to Comunity, then custom games, and try starting DCONX that way!

So do i need any Dcon files? because all i have is Dconx 0.22b, AND wouldnt the corrupt file be in the installer then? ill do what you said

but is there meant to be a different vid or HUD once u've loged in or is it same as vanilla bf2?

is there only meant to be 2 servers too!?

I see one conquest and one CTF server. If I remember correctly, the CTF one gets populated some time after midnight (European time, so evening in the US).

DCON has a custom video in the background of the menu running. unfortunately alot of the mods didnt get much play because of various reasons.. The really popular ones seem to be POE2 and PR. We still love ours though and I refuse to play anything else when I do play.
